In a world where technology is becoming increasingly important, the demand for programming skills has never been higher. Frequently, I’m asked about how to start with programming, so if you’ve been considering learning programming but are unsure where to begin, this guide is for you! In this article, I’ll walk you through the initial steps to take as you start your programming journey, from selecting a language to learning essential concepts and resources to help you along the way.

Step 1: Choose a Programming Language

The first step in learning programming is selecting a language to focus on. There are several popular languages to choose from, such as Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, Ruby and one of my personal favorite languages C#. As a beginner, you might want to start with a language that is easy to learn, has a strong community, and offers plenty of resources for learning.

Python can be an excellent choice for beginners, as it is known for its readability and has a wide range of applications. However, in my day-to-day work I haven’t found Python acually being used that much. Of course, this completely depends on the clients I work for. There are many companies that use Python on a daily basis so if Python seems appealing to you, be sure to give it a try.
